Konrad de la Fuente, who currently renewed his contract with the prestigious European side FC Barcelona, has big dreams when it comes to the future of the US Men’s National Team and international glory.

De la Fuente, who currently plays as a winger for Barca’s top youth team at the age of 18, expressed in an interview with ESPN that his goal is to win a World Cup with his country in the future.

“My goal with the national team is to win a World Cup,” said de la Fuente. “That’s my personal goal. Everyone has their own and, for me, it’s to win a World Cup. I definitely think it can happen. If we continue to grow in our clubs in Europe, I think we can do something special.”

There is currently an unprecedented number of young Americans playing for prestigious European clubs, including Christian Pulisic at Chelsea and Sergino Dest at Ajax.

De la Fuente has yet to make his debut with the senior national team, nor has he played for the senior club team in Barcelona. He, however, was one of the stars of the USMNT U-20 team that reached the World Cup quarter-finals last year.

American soccer is poised to take a step forward soon, and with ambitious goals like de la Fuente’s, it seems as if the players are aiming their targets especially high.
