United States’ star Christian Pulisic is facing another spell on the sidelines. Pulisic is currently dealing with a hamstring injury and could be out for “weeks,” according to Chelsea manager Frank Lampard.

Pulisic got hurt on Saturday during warmups for the Premier League match against Burnley. The 22-year-old winger ended up missing the game, but despite his absence, Chelsea managed to get a convincing 3-0 win.

Speaking about Pulisic’s injury on Monday, Lampard said that the club is bracing for the scenario in which they won’t be able to count on one of their best players.

“He’s played three games, we’ve tried to manage him in the week, and it’s a small feeling in his hamstring so we’ll have to see how he is over the next 24 hours,” Lampard explained. “It’s a minor feeling that he had but definitely not right to go into 90 minutes of a game with that. Hopefully, it’s short term, we’re talking weeks.”

If Cristian Pulisic ends up missing multiple weeks, that could rule him out of the matches against Rennes in UEFA Champions League and Premier League duels with Sheffield United and Newcastle United.

Pulisic experienced hamstring issues at the start of the season as well, missing five games in Premier League and EFL Cup. He played five games in 2020/21 in all competitions and currently has one goal to show for.
