The United States men’s national team will continue their quest to repeat as CONCACAF Nations League champions against Mexico. The two sides are set to face in the semi-finals of the competition in Las Vegas on June 15.
Canada and Panama game will play on the same day as USMNT and Mexico in the second semi-finals matchup. The winners will square off in CONCACAF Nations League finals game that is scheduled for June 18.
USMNT secured its place in the Nations League semi-finals on Monday with a 1-0 win over El Salvador. FC Groningen’s Ricardo Pepi scored the only goal of the game. Mexico, on the other hand, played a 2-2 draw with Jamaica over the weekend to get to the spot.
Before they face off in the CONCACAF Nations League semis, USMNT and Mexico are set to play an exhibition match in April in Glendale, Arizona. The teams will likely be played with squads consisting of players from MLS and Liga MX, considering that the game isn’t part of FIFA’s international friendly window.
The United States and Mexico played their first soccer match in 1934 and have faced 73 more times since then. Mexico has an advantage in the head-to-head record, winning 36 games compared to USMNT’s 22, while 16 matches ended with a tie.
