The U.S. Soccer Federation is reportedly in talks with the Football Association (FA) about a friendly match between the U.S. men’s national team and England’s national team.

The proposed friendly would serve as one of the warm-up games for USMNT ahead of the 2026 World Cup. Considering that USMNT is hosting the tournament, it gets an automatic spot and doesn’t need to play the qualifiers.

According to The Athletic’s Adam Crafton and Matt Slater, the date and the venue for the game are yet to be determined. However, it would likely take place on the East Coast at some point in June.

The game would likely be a great opportunity for new USMNT head coach Mauricio Pochettino to test his team against one of the world’s strongest national teams.

USMNT and England played 12 games against each other. Eight of those were friendlies; one took place at the US Cup, and three at the World Cup. USMNT has two wins to England’s eight, while two games ended in a draw.

The last time the two teams met each other was at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. The game ended in a draw, with both teams advancing to the knockout Round from Group B. USMNT ended up losing to the Netherlands in the Round of 16, while England reached the quarter-finals before being beaten by France.
