Christian Pulisic once again showed up when the United States men’s national team needed him the most. The AC Milan forward scored an early goal and dished an assist to help the USMNT open their 2024 Copa América campaign with a 2-0 win over Bolivia.

Pulisic opened the scoring in the third minute of the game with a beauty. He and Timothy Weah executed a short corner kick, allowing Pulisic to take the ball into the opponent’s penalty area and send a curler behind goalkeeper Guillermo Viscarra’s back and into the net.

USMNT doubled their lead in the 44th minute after Pulisic found Folarin Balogun on the left side with a well-timed pass, and the Monaco striker scored with a powerful shot.

Pulisic has now become the only American alongside Clint Dempsey to score a goal and have an assist at a Copa América game.

“We came out flying with a lot of intensity. Obviously, that early goal helped us a lot,” Pulisic said after the game. “All around, a pretty dominant performance. I think we could have put it away and had more goals there.”

The 2024 Copa América is currently being held in the United States, with USMNT being one of six teams to join the teams from South America for the tournament. USMNT is playing in Group C alongside Bolivia, Uruguay, and Panama.
