FC Cincinnati and United States international forward Brandon Vazquez is set to join Liga MX side Monterrey. According to a report from ESPN, Vazquez agreed to a four-year contract with the Mexican club.

Cincinnati previously agreed to a $7.5 million transfer fee with Monterrey for Vazquez. According to The Enquirer, the agreement also includes a sale-on percentage and $1 million in performance-based triggers.

Vazquez had a breakthrough season in 2022 when he scored 18 goals and added eight assists en route to MLS All-Star selection. His 2023 campaign was underwhelming in comparison, as he only had eight goals and four assists, but that didn’t prevent a number of clubs from entering a bidding war in an attempt to lure him out of Cincinnati.

Initially, Vazquez wanted to go to Europe, where clubs like Bundesliga side Borussia Monchengladbach had an interest in his services. However, Monterrey ended up putting the best offer on the table to edge out the competition.

Vazquez made his debut with the United States men’s national team in 2023. He was also eligible to represent Mexico on international level. In eight games played with USMNT so far, Vazquez scored four goals, including finding the net in his debut with the senior team in a 1-2 friendly loss to Serbia.
