The United States men’s national team continued its great run at this year’s Gold Cup with a convincing 6-0 win over Trinidad and Tobago. Forward Jesus Ferreira was the star of the show, scoring a hat trick and becoming the first American in history to have hat tricks in two consecutive games.

Ferreira scored three goals in Wednesday’s 6-0 win against St. Kitts and Nevis and repeated the feat against Trinidad and Tobago on Sunday night. This was the third career hat-trick in international games for an FC Dallas player, making him tied for most in USMNT history with legendary Landon Donovan.

“I’m happy. I’m excited,” Ferreira said after the game. “Obviously, this is a team objective. I wouldn’t be able to score goals without my teammates putting me in situations where I can score goals.”

Ferreira has been in great form in MLS this season as well. He is third on the MLS goal leaders list, scoring 10 goals in 18 games.

The resounding win over Trinidad and Tobago secured the first position in Group A for USMNT ahead of Jamaica. They are set to play the second-placed team from Group D, where Guadeloupe, Guatemala, and Canada are still in play to make the knockout stage.
