It’s now official. Stipe Miocic and Daniel Cormier will face each other on August 15th to complete one of the most anticipated UFC trilogies in recent years.

UFC president Dana White confirmed the news on Tuesday.

“I don’t have a location yet, but the trilogy with those two great heavyweights will happen this summer,” said White.

In the first fight between the two UFC legends, which took place on July 7, 2018, Daniel Cormier knocked out Stipe Miocic in the first round and took the UFC Heavyweight Champion belt. Rematch took place on August 17, 2019, and Miocic managed to avenge his loss, winning with a technical knockout in the fourth round and reclaiming the belt.

The third fight against Miocic will probably be the last in UFC for Cormier, as the 41-year-old martial artist previously said that he will retire if he manages to complete this trilogy.

“This one is for all the marbles,” Cormier wrote on Twitter after learning about the news. “1-1, both knockouts but great fights, I can’t wait to fight this dude again!! Now it’s time to work as hard as I ever trained.”

Miocic is currently recovering from an eye injury he got in his previous fight against Cormier. However, it is expected that he will recover in full by August.
