The United States international left-back DeAndre Yedlin is reportedly set to leave the Premier League side Newcastle United. According to sources close to the club, Yedlin has no future at the club and could exit even before his contract expires in the summer of 2021.

Tom Bogert reported earlier this week that Yedlin had a chat with the team’s front office, and was told that the team wouldn’t offer him an extension at this point. The 27-year-old Yedlin already started looking into other options and even had exploratory talks with MLS teams.

However, Bogert added that Yedlin’s return to the United States remains unlikely. The player still wants to play at the highest level, while the finances would be problematic as well as he would require a Designated Player contract.

DeAndre Yedlin started his career with Seattle Sounders FC, with whom he won MLS Supporters’ Shield and Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup. He also earned two MLS All-Star appearances before making a move to Tottenham in 2014.

Yedlin’s time in London was far from successful, as he only played one game with Tottenham before being sent on loan to Sunderland. Upon his return next season, he was sold to Newcastle for a reported $6.5 million in 2016.

Yedlin has been with USMNT since 2014 and has made 62 appearances for the senior team so far.
