Fortuna Dusseldorf was recently promoted to the German’s Bundesliga and is already working to stay there. The team has announced on Tuesday that they have signed United States international midfielder Alfredo Morales to a three-year contract. Morales previously spent five seasons playing for FC Ingolstadt 04.
“We’ll get an experienced Bundesliga player in Alfredo Morales,” – said Dusseldorf coach Friedhelm Funkel. “He’s played in more than 150 matches in the two upper tiers. He’s shown there he has Bundesliga quality. With his mentality, he can help us from day one.“

Alfredo Morales started his professional career with Hertha BSC’s second team in 2008, before being promoted to the first team in 2010. He played in 20 Bundesliga games for Hertha before deciding to join Ingolstadt in 2013. Morales played in 25 games for Ingolstadt in 2017-18 season scoring on four occasions.
“I had great talks with those in charge at Dusseldorf,” – said Morales about joining Fortuna Dusseldorf. “But the great stadium and the crazy fans were also factors for my move. I am delighted it worked out.“
Although he spent his entire life in Germany, Alfredo Morales was eligible to play for the United States on the international level through his Peruvian-born father who is an American citizen. He made his international debut in 2013 and went on to play 13 games with USMNT, being also a part of the 2015 CONCACAF Gold Cup squad.
