Free agent Tyus Jones has joined the Phoenix Suns after agreeing to a one-year contract, his agent, Kevin Bradbury of Lift Sports Management confirmed. Jones will receive $3.3 million from the deal.

Prior to becoming a free agent, Jones averaged 12.0 points and 7.3 assists for the Washington Wizards during the 2023-24 NBA season. His arrival will provide the Suns with some much needed strength in the point guard position, where the team’s roster is currently lacking firepower.

“The chance to play for the Phoenix Suns made the most sense on a lot of levels to me and my family — beginning with the way [governor] Mat Ishbia and the front office recruited me to how coach [Mike Budenholzer] showed me how I can significantly impact a team that has a real opportunity to challenge for an NBA title as their starting point guard,” Jones stated during an interview after signing his contract with the Suns.

Prior to his four seasons with the Wizards, Jones represented the Memphis Grizzlies for four seasons before which he played for the Minnesota Timberwolves. He was a crucial player in the 2022 playoffs for the Grizzlies, averaging 9.2 points, 4.5 assists and 1.2 steals in 12 playoff games
