A fight between Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua is one of the most anticipated boxing fights in recent memory. And it appears we are inching closer to actually seeing it play out.

Fury’s promoter Bob Arum recently made an appearance on iFL TV and said that Fury and Joshua agreed to all major points of the bout and are close to meeting in the ring.

“I can say clearly, based on my view on everything, that there are no more issues,” said Arum. He then added that there are still several details that need to be sorted out, including the contracts and the venue.

The reports about Fury vs. Joshua first surfaced last year, when Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn said that the boxers agreed to a two-fight deal and will fight in 2021. Fury also confirmed the news shortly after, but there were no further updates about the bout since then.

Arum’s recent comments are encouraging for everyone who wants to see this fight, but it should be cautious optimism. In the world of boxing, nothing is certain until contracts get signed and the venue gets booked.

Tyson Fury currently holds the WBC heavyweight champion belt, which he won in February 2020 by defeating Deontay Wilder. He hasn’t had a fight since.

Anthony Joshua, on the other hand, is the IBF, WBA, and WBO champion. His most recent fight was against Kubrat Pulev, whom he knocked out in the 9th round in December.
