As incredible as it may sound like, at some point there was a chance for us to see Tyson vs. Tyson. Current WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury recently told the media that he was offered a chance to fight legendary boxer Mike Tyson in an exhibition match a while ago.

Although he has not been in the ring since 2005, there is an increasing chatter that the 53-year-old Tyson is willing to fight again thanks to a number of social media videos that showed him fiercely working out. It looks like some promoter caught his comeback intention early on and immediately tried to arrange a spectacle.

“I did get a phone call with a chance to fight Mike Tyson, and I was like, ‘What?,'” said Fury in a chat with BT Sport. “I had a phone call saying, ‘Would you like to fight Mike Tyson in an exhibition fight?’ I was like, ‘Hell yeah!'”

Unfortunately, the fight of two Tysons never materialized. According to Fury, the talks never got past that phone call.

Although it is unlikely for Mike Tyson to fight Fury, several other opponents have been mentioned as an option. As Fury points out, most enticing would be the third fight against Evander Holyfield.  In the previous two fights, which took place in 1996 and 1997, Holyfield was victorious.
