United States men’s national team midfielder Tyler Adams has been named the 2022 U.S. Soccer Male Player of the Year. This is the third occasion on which Adams has been nominated for the award.

Having served as captain of the United States at the 2022 FIFA World Cup, Adams was the runaway winner in the race for the award, coming away with 71.6% of the votes. He was followed by Christian Pulsiic with 14.7% and Matt Turner with 8.2%.

“Receiving this type of recognition is certainly special, but for me the team’s success is the most important thing,” Adams stated upon receiving the award. “Having the experience of going to the World Cup, performing well as a group and moving the sport forward in the United States was super important to me this year, and I couldn’t have done it without my teammates.”

In addition to representing the United States on the world stage, Adams also played as a member of the RB Leipzig team that won the DFB-Pokal before becoming a key member of Premier League team Leeds United.
