In the second inning against the Red Sox, Mike Trout added another accomplishment to his incredible career. With his 11th stolen base of the season, he became the youngest player to reach 200 home runs and 200 stolen bases, beating Barry Bonds by 325 days.

Trout entered the game with 283 long balls and 199 steals, while Bonds actually reached 200 steals two seasons before he accomplished 200 homers. Bonds is the most accomplished home run and stolen base player in baseball history and is the only member of the 400-400 club.

Trout led the American League with 49 stolen bases in his rookie season in 2012 and since then his stolen base numbers have declined. He hasn’t lost his speed and is still a top defender, he just doesn’t take as many risks and is one of the most efficient base stealers in the game.

With a success rate of 84.7%, Trout has the 3rd best-stolen base rate in baseball history among players with 200 steals or more. While the nature of the game is changing and at this rate he probably will not join Bonds in the 400-400 club, Trout’s threat as a 5 tool player, along with his efficiency and dedication still make him the best player in the game.
