Tracy McGrady figured he can’t stay away from basketball after his induction into the Hall of Fame. Orlando Magic announced on Friday that McGrady is back with the team, this time in the role of special assistant to CEO Alex Martins. T-Mac will be available to the players and coaches on and off the court while assisting and advising the executive team in several areas. McGrady will also help the Magic with promotion, marketing, and community relations activities.

“I am thrilled to be back where I truly made a name for myself – with the Orlando Magic,” said McGrady after the announcement. “The DeVos family and the entire organization have always done everything in a first-class manner and I am excited to be able to help them with whatever they may need.”

After being selected as the 9th overall in the 1997 NBA Draft by Toronto Raptors, McGrady joined the Magic in 2000 as a free agent signing six-year, $67.5 million contract. During 4 years he spent with the team, McGrady played some of the best basketball in his career, emerging as one of the league’s best players. He received numerous honors including NBA Most Improved Player (2001), NBA scoring champion (2003, 2004)and All-NBA First Team (2002, 2003) as well as getting his first All-Star game appearance. After leaving the Magic, T-Mac played for the Houston Rockets, New York Knicks, Detroit Pistons, and Atlanta Hawks before finishing his NBA career with the San Antonio Spurs.
