While Tottenham Hotspur went into the clash in fine form, having bagged a crucial away draw at Man City, few could have predicted that a struggling Newcastle United side who lost their first two league games would come away with a victory.

The match started off as expected, with Spurs getting off to a strong attacking start. While constantly looking the more likely to score, the visiting Magpies stunned the home crowd as striker Joelinton grabbed the lead for Newcastle.

For the remainder of the match, Spurs dominated almost every facet of gameplay, however, they were still unsuccessful in finding the back of the net. Their dominance showed in the one-sided match statistics: Spurs controlled 80% of the total ball possession while firing a total of 17 shots.

Tottenham Hotspur forward Son Heung-Min had this to say following the upsetting defeat: “The goals were missing today. We had plenty of chances but we were not clinical enough. It’s always hard against teams that play deep, it makes it more difficult. I think we had chances to score, we should have got something out of this game.”We have only played three games, there is a long way to go. This was not the best result but we have to stay positive and go again.”

Ben loves sports so much but prefers watching other people do it. He prefers not to share what teams he's supporting but he is willing to admit that Lebron James is, in fact, the king.
