Tottenham Hotspur know that they have one of the world’s best strikers in Harry Kane, which is why they are attempting to lock the 27-year-old star to a long-term deal.

According to The Independent’s Miguel Delaney, the Spurs have opened negotiations with Kane about a new contract extension. While the agreement isn’t expected to be made soon, both sides are optimistic about the outcome of the negotiations.

Kane’s current deal runs through the 2023-24 season, but Tottenham is aware that their star player is a target for many top European clubs. This is why the front office wants to remove any doubts about his future while also rewarding him for his good performances with a salary bump. The English player currently earns around $270,000 per week.

While Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain are known to be keen on Harry Kane, the player is reportedly fine with staying with Tottenham as long as the club is in the position to challenge for trophies. That seems to be the case under Jose Mourinho, so it wouldn’t be a surprise if Kane commits to playing out his prime soccer years in a Spurs jersey.

Kane is currently enjoying one of his most productive seasons, contributing goals while also creating for his teammates. He has 17 goals and 14 assists in 27 games in all competitions, while his 11 assists in Premier League are a league-high.
