Derrick Henry’s MVP-worthy campaign in 2021 might come to a disappointing end. According to multiple reports around the league, Henry is dealing with a foot injury that might rule him out for the remainder of the season.

Henry felt discomfort in his foot in the first quarter of Tennessee’s 34-31 overtime win over the Indianapolis Colts but remained in the game after getting it checked on the sidelines. However, the 27-year-old wasn’t his dominant self after and finished the contest with 68 rushing yards, his lowest since the season opener.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that the Titans are waiting for an MRI to determine the extent of Henry’s injury but not to expect good news. The Pro Bowler is most likely dealing with a Jones fracture that will require surgery and see him end his season prematurely.

Other reports, including the one from NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, indicate that the expected timeline for Henry’s recovery might be around eight weeks. This would allow him to return in time for the playoffs if the Titans manage to get in without him.

Derrick Henry has been the NFL’s best running back in 2021 and has made a case to become the first non-quarterback to win the MVP award since Adrian Peterson did it in 2012. Throughout the first eight weeks of the season, Henry had the league-leading 937 rushing yards and 10 rushing touchdowns. He also added 18 catches for 158 receiving yards.
