The Tenessee Titans have inked their newly acquired corner, L’Jarius Sneed, to an extension. According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Titans and Sneed agreed to a four-year, $76.4 million contract.
Sneed was set to become a free agent this offseason before the Kansas City Chiefs placed a franchise tag on him. The Chiefs, already facing a challenging salary cap situation, opted to trade the standout corner to the Titans in exchange for a third-round draft pick.
The Titans traded for Sneed with every intention of locking him to a long-term deal and finally did it on Tuesday. Rapoport reports that Sneed will receive $55 million in guaranteed money, including a $20 million signing bonus.
Since being drafted in the fourth round of the 2020 NLF Draft, L’Jarius Sneed emerged as one of the best corners in the league. He is renowned for his versatility, blitz playability, and efficient coverage. Sneed’s career stats include 303 tackles, 6.5 sacks, 10 interceptions, and 40 passes defended.
In Sneed, the Titans get a reliable cornerback who is just entering the prime of his career. He will join a secondary that includes 2022’s second-round pick Roger McCreary and free-agent signing Chidobe Awuzie, and it looks like it might cause quite a lot of problems for opposing offenses.
