All-Pro safety Jamal Adams is looking for a new team after being released by the Tennessee Titans on Thursday.

Titans confirmed the news but didn’t share details behind the move. However, according to reports, it was Adams who wanted to be released due to lack of playing time, and the team decided to honor his request.

Adams signed with the Titans on a veteran minimum deal in the offseason. While he had other offers, the three-time Pro Bowler opted for the Titans due to the opportunity to reunite with defensive coordinator Dennard Wilson. The two worked together at the New York Jets when Wilson served as defensive backs coach, and Adams was starting his career as a sixth overall pick in 2017.

However, the move didn’t work out for either side. Adams ended up appearing in just three games and playing 20 snaps, during which he recorded four tackles. He became unsatisfied with his role, while the team believed he wasn’t fully ready to be out on the field due to missing a large chunk of training camp.

“At this point, wish Jamal all the best going forward, it just didn’t work out here,” Wilson told the media after the news about Adams’ release was confirmed. “He’ll have great success wherever he goes.”

Adams made three straight Pro Bowls and received First-team All-Pro and two Second-team All-Pro nods between 2018 and 2020. However, his career was largely marked by injuries since then. He was forced to end prematurely in the 2021 campaign due to a torn labrum and played only one game in 2022 due to a torn quad tendon.

In 2023, Adams was finally back on the field but struggled to return to his past form. He ended up playing in nine games with the Seattle Seahawks and made 48 tackles and two passes defended. The Seahawks ended up releasing him after the season ended.
