Reliability is a highly sought-after trait in the NFL, and Tennessee Titans know that. This is why they decided to give their center Ben Jones a new contract one year early and avoid the risk of losing him in the free agency.

Jones, who hasn’t missed an NFL game since entering the league in 2012, reportedly inked a two-year extension which will keep him with Titans through 2021. The deal is believed to be worth $13.5 million.

Ben Jones started his professional career as Houston Texan’s fourth overall pick. After being a backup for the better part of his first two years in the league, he became a starter ahead of 2014 season and remained in this role for the next two years.

In 2016, Jones decided to leave Houston and ended up signing with Titans on a four-year deal. He continued his streak in Tennessee, having started each game since joining the organization.

Besides being a reliable option on center, Jones is also appreciated for his leadership skills and locker room presence.

“I think when you look at Ben’s personality, he’s got a great reach in the locker room, he’s got a great ability to reach a lot of different players and a lot of different positions,” – said Titans’ head coach Mike Vrabel of Jones earlier this week. “I think first of all that that’s unique. He’s a very instinctive and aware player. He’s a very smart football player and I would say that his number one redeeming quality is his toughness. So, when you combine all those things together, I think you could play multiple positions.”
