The Tennessee Titans are finalizing their deal with Cincinnati Bengals offensive coordinator Brian Callahan to become their next head coach, sources confirmed to ESPN on Monday night. He will come in to replace Mike Vrabel, who was dismissed after the NFL regular season came to a close.
During his five seasons as the Bengals’ offensive coordinator, Callahan lifted the team to two AFC North division championships as well as a Super Bowl appearance in 2021. With Callahan at the helm, the Bengals’ offense was ranked seventh in the NFL in points per game with 26.1, while fifth in passing yards (265.0) and eighth in total yards (360.5 per game).
“He establishes the whole structure of the offence,” Bengals coach Zac Taylor said of Callahan. “He has helped develop every position we have. He’s invaluable. There’s really not enough things I can say about him.” Callahan will be the Titans’ sixth head coach in the franchise’s history.
