NBA veteran Danny Green announced his retirement after 15 seasons at the summit of basketball. “I’m officially moving on from the game of basketball, the NBA. It’s been a great run,” he stated on his podcast. “To me, I’m very proud to be able to walk away from the game. I’m at peace with it.”
Known for being a 3-point marksman, Green is one of just four players in history to win NBA Championships with three different teams. He won his first title with the San Antonio Spurs in 2014 before winning with the Toronto Raptors in 2019 and the Los Angeles Lakers in 2020.
A 40% career shooter, Green’s best season came in 2014-15 with the Cleveland Cavaliers, when he averaged a career-high 11.7 points across 81 games. Another career high came in 2016-17 when he made the NBA All-Defensive team. Green revealed that it was his bodily discomfort that influenced his decision to retire, particularly as he felt repeated calf strains.
