Third Seed Casper Ruud Eliminated from 2022 Wimbledon

Casper Ruud couldn’t follow up this year’s finals appearance at French Open with a deep run at 2022 Wimbledon. Despite entering the tournament as a No. 3 seed, Ruud finished his journey in the second round after a 3-6, 6-2, 7-5, 6-4 loss to Ugo Humbert.

Humbert, currently ranked as No. 125 in the world, had a poor start to the match and made 15 unforced errors en route to losing the first set. However, the Frenchman settled in the second set as he started to trust his serve and be more aggressive.

On the other hand, Rudd’s struggles on grass were on full display. The 23-year-old, who never got passed the first round at Wimbledon until this year, failed to get comfortable despite taking the first set. His shots stopped dropping and the frustration set in, leading to more mistakes that Humbert was more than happy to capitalize on.
