Former French international Thierry Henry has reportedly agreed to take over Ligue 1 side Bordeaux. The club was without a coach ever since manager Gus Poyet was suspended for his criticism of Bordeaux ownership. Henry emerged as a favorite early on and will come to France after serving as an assistant manager to Roberto Martinez at Belgium national team.

Another interesting piece of information is that Bordeaux is considering bringing in Arsene Wenger, who previously coached Thierry Henry at Arsenal, as a sporting director. Coincidence or not, Wenger just recently talked about Henry’s desire to become a coach.

Yes, he wants to do it [become a manager], he is intelligent, and he has the qualities,” – said Wenger. “The existential question that we always ask ourselves is whether we are ready to sacrifice our life for the coaching profession.

Thierry Henry had a successful career as a player, having played for European clubs like Monaco, Juventus, Arsenal, and Barcelona. During his career in Europe, Henry won fifteen different trophies including Premier League, La Liga, and UEFA Champions League titles. He also played in MLS, wearing the jersey of New York Red Bulls from 2010 to 2014 and winning Supporters’ Shield in 2013.

His international career was also filled with success, and he won both FIFA World Cup and UEFA European Championship with France national team.
