Center back Thiago Silva, who became a Paris Saint-Germain club idol after spending nearly a decade at the French club, is finally set to leave PSG this summer after his contract expired.

According to multiple media reports, it seems as if Silva will be joining the English club Chelsea on a two-year deal this summer, giving the Premier League a try.

Silva spent the past eight seasons with PSG after joining from AC Milan on a $50 million fee, which at the time was the highest ever paid for a defender.

While he never ended up helping PSG win the Champions League trophy it has long desired, he did help the club win seven Ligue 1 titles, five Coupes de France, and six Coupes de la Ligue during his time in Paris.

Despite turning 35 years old last September, Silva continued to play a key role for PSG this season, playing in 35 games and starting the majority of PSG’s Champions League matches as the team reached the semi-finals of the competition.

Silva will join Chelsea as the team looks to compete for the Premier League and Champions League titles next season and will provide important depth at the center back position alongside Antonio Rudinger, Kurt Zouma, Andreas Christensen, and Fikayo Tomori.

He will come over on a free transfer and is expected to sign for the next two seasons.

I am a reality TV junkie. My dream since I was a kid was to be on Big Brother, but until then you can catch me binge-watching episodes each summer.
