Thiago Alcantara Reportedly Rejects Extension Offer from Bayern

Spanish international midfielder Thiago Alcantara is reportedly unsure about his future with Bayern Munich. According to German outlet Sport Bild, Thiago recently refused a contract extension offer from Bundesliga giants as he is considering leaving the club after seven years.

Thiago has one year left on his contract and Bayern approached his representatives back in May to offer him a new deal. However, the 29-year-old is stalling with the response and still hasn’t reached out to the club about the matter.

Sport Bild reports that Thiago’s reluctance to pen an extension has to do with his wish to play for another top European club. His preferred destination would be defending UEFA Champions League champions Liverpool, as The Reds’ manager Jurgen Klopp is known to be a fan of the Spaniard.

Thiago Alcantara started his career with Barcelona and spent four years at Camp Nou before joining Bayern in 2013. Since then, Thiago made 230 appearances for the club while helping the Bavarian powerhouse to win seven consecutive Bundesliga titles.

This season, Thiago hasn’t been present for Bayern that much as he dealt with several minor injuries. However, the club still considers him a key player and will most likely be reluctant to let him go without a fight.
