As fun as it is to contemplate the playoffs, there’s one race that gets us pretty darn excited as well: the MVP race. Even though the MVP trophy is strictly for regular-season performance, it’s still fun to wonder who’ll be the leading vote-getter year in and year out. So without further ado, here are our top three MVP candidates so far this season.

Giannis Antetokounmpo

The Greek Freak is always an MVP candidate, especially after two years of winning the award straight. He hasn’t slowed down one bit this season, averaging nearly 30 points a game and 11.7 rebounds.

Joel Embiid

This season is the best we’ve ever seen Joel Embiid play, and that’s saying a lot. Averaging 30.2 points per game and 11.6 rebounds, he’s a menace on both ends of the floor. But even more impressive is the way he’s leading the Philadelphia 76ers to the number one seed in the East.

LeBron James

At 36 years old, LeBron is looking as good as he ever has. Averaging a near triple double like he normally does, it’s incredible this man is still in the MVP conversation. Coming off his fourth NBA title, it’ll be interesting to see what happens in this year’s playoffs.
