Houston Texans safety Justin Reid won’t be able to add to his standout 2020 campaign in the last three games of the season. According to the NFL Network, Reid is dealing with a hand injury that will sideline him for the remainder of the year.

Reid got hurt in the first half of the 36-7 loss against Chicago Bears on Sunday, being forced to exit the contest. He managed to return and finish the game, but later tests showed the injury was too severe for him to continue playing this season.

Reid’s absence won’t hurt Houston Texans as much, considering they are already out of the playoff picture. However, it does bring the 23-year-old pro’s potentially breakthrough season to an abrupt end.

Justin Reid, drafted out of Stanford in the third round of the 2018 NFL Draft, was on pace to hit his career-high in tackles, racking up 83 takedowns in 13 games he played in 2020. He also recorded his first two sacks this season while adding four pass deflections and four QB hits.

In Reid’s absence, the Texans are expected to give extended playing time to Lonnie Johnson Jr., who switched from cornerback to safety position at the beginning of the season.  Johnson played 13 games this season with two starts, contributing with 53 tackles and three QB hits.

Gunner's favorite movies are Pulp Fiction, Iron Man (just the first one), and every James Bond film ever made. He's learning TV and cinema and hoping to always enjoy movies as he does now.
