The Houston Texans will play out the remainder of the 2024 NFL season without their second most productive wide receiver, Tank Dell. This was confirmed to reporters by Texans head coach DeMeco Ryans on Monday.
Dell requires knee surgery after suffering a torn ACL in a 27-19 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs on Saturday. The second-year wideout got hurt after catching a touchdown pass from quarterback C.J. Stroud early in the second half.
“It’s not easy to see your brother go down like that after just dealing with a season injury last year,” Stroud said of Dell’s injury. “It’s not a lot to say, this isn’t the end for him. This is just another bump in the road.”
After putting together a solid rookie season, Tank Dell continued to be an important weapon for Stroud in 2024 as well. He made 51 catches for 667 yards and three touchdowns while acting as the team’s No. 2 wide receiver behind Nico Collins after veteran Stefon Diggs went down with a season-ending injury in Week 8.
The Texans will now face the tough challenge of replacing Dell and Diggs’ production. Collins and tight end Dalton Schultz are expecting to carry the majority of the workload, while veteran Robert Woods and third-year wideout John Metchie III will likely receive expanded roles.
