Houston Texans won’t leave quarterback Deshaun Watson without weapons on offense after all. Texans announced on Friday that they have acquired wideout Brandin Cooks in a trade with Los Angeles Rams.

The team did not disclose the trade terms right away, but according to reports, they will send a second-rounder to LA. As part of the deal, Texans will also get a 2022 fourth-round pick.

Cooks leaves the Rams after a disappointing season in which he had career-low 42 receptions and two touchdowns to go with 583 yards. The 26-year-old missed two games with concussions, while he also wasn’t as frequently targeted as in 2018.

Houston will hope that Cooks’ down year was an outlier and that he can bounce back in the role of a No.1 receiver. Texans found themselves in need of a receiver after shockingly trading away Pro Bowler DeAndre Hopkins to Arizona Cardinals.

Rams, on the other hand, wanted to clear some salary while also needing draft capital after parting ways with most of their early-round picks in recent years.

Brandin Cooks started his career with the New Orleans Saints as a 20th overall pick in 2014. He made a strong impression in New Orleans, amassing 215 receptions, 2,861 receiving yards and 20 touchdowns in his first three years in the league.  Following the 2016 season, Saints traded Cooks to New England Patriots, where he delivered another 1,000+ receiving yards season, before being heading to LA.
