Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag made his frustration known following his team’s crushing 4-0 defeat at the hands of Brentford on Saturday. This loss sees the Red Devils sink to the bottom of the Premier League table after two games.

After conceding all four goals during the first half of the game, ten Hag decided to sub off defenders Luke Shaw and Lisandro Martinez along with midfielder Fred. Still, these substitutions proved to be insufficient for the Dutch manager, who admitted, “I subbed three but I could’ve changed them all.”

“I think we all have seen the game and I think Brentford was more hungry. We have to question that and we will do in the coming hours. You can have a good plan but we had to put the plan into the bin,” ten Hag reflected following his team’s humiliation at the Gtech Community Stadium.

While many have questioned ten Hag’s playing style following his team’s back-to-back defeats, he insists that he will not change his strategy, instead stating that his team is still “naive” to his approach.

Ten Hag is the first Manchester United manager since John Chapman in 1921 to lose his first two competitive games.
