Following disappointment with their standard silver medal at the Tokyo Games, the U.S. women’s gymnastics team came to the 2024 Paris Olympics looking for redemption. They found it on Tuesday, dominating the team final in artistic gymnastics discipline and winning the gold.

Team USA, consisting of Simone Biles, Jordan Chiles, Jade Carey, Sunisa Lee, and Hezly Rivera, scored 171.296 points. Italy finished second with 165.494 points, while Brazil took the bronze with 164.497 points.

The star of the show was Biles, who made a huge comeback after retiring from the Tokyo Olympics due to “twisties”. Biles was the last to perform the floor exercise and received huge cheers from the crowd as she put an exclamation point on Team USA’s performance.

With another gold medal on her resume, Biles is now the most-decorated American gymnast at the Olympics with eight medals.

Biles might still increase her count, considering she made it to the final of the all-around competition, beam, vault, and floor. However, this doesn’t seem to be the main reason why Biles is looking forward to these events.

“I just go out here and do what I’m supposed to do, and I’m doing what I love and enjoying it,” Biles said. “So that’s really all that matters to me. Yes, it’s amazing now that I hear it, but I don’t think I’ll truly understand the depth of it until I walk away from the sport.”

Ben loves sports so much but prefers watching other people do it. He prefers not to share what teams he's supporting but he is willing to admit that Lebron James is, in fact, the king.
