Former Memphis Grizzlies’ star Zach Randolph is making a surprise return to basketball. Randolph, however, won’t be dunking on NBA courts. Instead, he will join the popular 3-on-3 basketball league BIG3.

The league’s official social media announced that Randolph will become a member of Trilogy and will also serve as the team’s captain for the 2020 season. Fittingly enough, he will have his debut in Memphis, where he played for nine years.

Randolph will join former San Antonio Spurs’ guard Stephen Jackson, who recently became the Trilogy’s head coach. Jackson also played in the BIG3, spending three seasons with Killer 3’s.

Zach Randolph played for five different franchises in the NBA, but he left the biggest mark with the Grizzlies where he was the core member of the team’s “Grit and Grind” generation. Randolph made two All-Star appearances while in Memphis, while also helping the team to one conference finals and two conference semifinals.

Randolph last played in the NBA ni 2017 as a member of the Sacramento Kings. He officially retired in 2019 with career averages of 16.6 points, 9.1 rebounds, and 1.8 assists.
