The Tampa Bay Rays dropped Game 5 of the World Series to the Los Angeles Dodgers on Sunday night, but not all news was bad for the franchise as one of their starting outfielders broke a Major League record in the process.

Randy Arozarena lined a fifth-inning single to left field off of Dodgers pitcher Clayton Kershaw to score a run and break the all-time record for hits in a single Postseason.

The Cuban import, who has played in only 42 career regular-season games, has already compiled 27 hits during October this year, breaking the previous mark set by Giants infielder Pablo Sandoval in 2014.

Arozarena was named the ALCS MVP for his amazing performance in Tampa’s seven-game series against the Astros.

What’s even more remarkable is that Arozarena also broke the record for the number of home runs hit in a single Postseason on Saturday at 9, a record which was previously held by Nelson Cruz, Barry Bonds, and Carlos Beltran.

The young phenomenon, who has cemented his place as one of the game’s brightest young stars this October, will have his chance to build on that total in Game 6 on Tuesday as the Rays look to stay alive and force a winner-take-all Game 7 in the series.

The Los Angeles Dodgers took an early lead in the World Series against the Tampa Bay Rays, winning Game 1 by an easy 8-3.

The Dodgers got another excellent performance by their ace pitcher Clayton Kershaw, even though they didn’t really need it to win this game.

Kershaw retired 17 of the last 18 batters he faced, allowing just two hits, one walk, and striking out eight batters. Kershaw did give up one home run to Kevin Kiermaler, but it didn’t matter, because the Dodgers offense was having their way with the Rays pitchers at that point.

Dodgers slugger Cody Bellinger, who hit the go-ahead home run that got them the Game 7 win over the Atlanta Braves in the National League Championship Series, showed up to play again, cranking a two-run home run off Rays starting pitcher Tyler Glasnow in the fourth inning to get the Dodgers their first runs.

By the top of the sixth inning, it was already 6-1. The Dodgers then piled on with Mookie Betts continuing his excellent play and hitting a solo home run shot, followed by back-to-back doubles by Justin Turner and Max Muncy.

Los Angeles is now one step closer to winning the team’s first World Series since 1988.

LA Dodgers will return to World Series for their third appearance in four years. Dodgers secured their spot by beating Atlanta Braves 4-3 in the deciding NLCS Game 7 on Sunday night and capping off an unlikely comeback after being down 1-3 in the series.

It didn’t start well for the Dodgers, as they found themselves trailing 0-2 after Marcell Ozuna and Dansby Swanson hit home runs for Braves in the first two innings. Will Smith’s two-run single equaled the game in the third, but Atlanta immediately took the lead back with Austin Riley’s single.

Still, Brave couldn’t hold on to the lead that would bring the franchise its first World Series appearance since 1999.

Enrique Hernandez hit a pinch-hit homer in the sixth to tie it once again, while 2019’s NL MVP Cody Bellinger completed the comeback in the seventh inning with another lights-out home run.

“We never gave up,” said MVP of the series Corey Seager. “This team never quit. We came out every night and expected to win. Tip your cap to that clubhouse and how we responded, how we came back. We always found the energy, found the big play, found the big spark. Whether it was defensively, offensively, pitching, we grinded through that series. It was a lot of fun to be on top of that one.”

The LA Dodgers will now face the Tampa Bay Rays in the World Series in an attempt to win their first title in 33 years. Dodgers got close in 2018 and 2019 but got beaten by Houston Astros and Boston Red Sox, respectively.

“The World Series is the World Series, no matter what year you get there—’17 happened, ’18 happened. We fell short; now we are back,” added Enrique Hernandez. “The past is in the past—this one feels super special because it is in front of us, and it is happening.”

Dodgers were the best team in baseball in the regular season, finishing with a 43-17 record. And they managed to translate their claim in the postseason so far, but it won’t count for anything if they can’t deliver in the World Series.

The World Series, which will see Dodgers face Tampa Bay Rays, kicks off on October 20 at Arlington’s Globe Life Field.

Baseball fans will get to attend this year’s World Series in person after all. On Wednesday, Major League Baseball announced plans to sell tickets for title games as well as National League Championship Series.

According to the league’s press release, there will be 11,500 tickets available for each game in both series, which are set to take place at Texas’ Globe Life Field. The 10,550 fans will be seated on the stands while an additional 950 will watch the contests from suites.

The NL championship series is set to kick off on October 12, while the World Series will start on October 20. Game 1 of the NLCS will be the first time that fans will be at a baseball game since spring training in March.

The American League, however, won’t get the same treatment as California has stricter protocols when it comes to public gatherings. The AL Championship Series is set to take place in San Diego and Los Angeles.

MLB follows the NFL’s lead, considering that a number of football teams started allowing their fans to attend games in recent weeks. On the other hand, NHL closed out their season in empty arenas while NBA is about to do the same in a bubble setting in Orlando.
