In the first Thanksgiving game of his career, Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson threw four touchdown passes in a 41-25 blowout of the Detroit Lions.

Houston wide receiver Will Fuller continued to be Watson’s favorite target, catching six passes for 171 yards and two touchdowns. Fuller is one of only eight wide receivers to register more than 170 receiving yards on Thanksgiving.

Watson became the only quarterback in franchise history to throw 24 touchdown passes in the first 11 games of the season.

The Texans have found a way to win under their interim head coach Romeo Crennel, who took over after former head coach and general manager Bill O’Brien was fired from both positions following a 0-4 start.

Watson has shown over this period that he is still one of the most exciting quarterbacks in the NFL. He threw only eight incomplete passes and averaged over 12 yards per passing attempt against the Lions mediocre defensive backfield.

Detroit could be looking for a new head coach soon as well. The team has looked sloppy and unfocused over the last few weeks, with generally very few signs of improvement being shown under coach Matt Patricia since he took over as head coach in 2018.

The Lions were their own worst enemy against the Texans, turning the ball over three times.

After 0-3 start of the seasons, Houston Texans bounced back big time with four wins including a 42-23 blowout against the Miami Dolphins on Thursday night. While this win put the team at the top of AFC South, it came at a big cost since their second-leading wide receiver Will Fuller suffered ACL tear in his right knee and is done for the season.

Fuller was injured in the fourth quarter of the Dolphins game when he tried to catch a pass in the red zone. The 24-year-old should undergo a season-ending surgery early next week.
The news about Will Fuller’s injury was confirmed by Texans’ head coach Bill O’Brien on Friday.

“[Fuller has] been playing well,” – said O’Brien. “But that’s the thing about this league. I think if you go through every team, everybody’s dealing with injuries. It’s such a cliché, but the coaching staff, the players, we all have to pitch in and figure it out and figure out how we’re going to construct the offense. And maybe some things will be the same, and maybe some things will be a little bit different.”

“Most importantly right now, I’m very disappointed for Will because Will’s a great guy. He’s really been playing at a high level.” – he added.

Will Fuller, who was selected by Texans 21st overall in 2016, was on pace to have the best season in his career before the injury. In seven games he played in 2018, Fuller had 32 receptions for 503 yards and four touchdowns. He was also averaging career-best 15.7 yards per reception.
