With the match in Berlin, the Bundesliga debutants Union Berlin and Eintracht Frankfurt opened the 6^th fixture of the German league. The match was played at Alten Forestei, with Frankfurt leaving the capital with all 3 points. The first half finished goalless, with both teams struggling to find the net. 

However, unlike the first half, the second 45 minutes brought 3 goals, with Frankfurt scoring first through Bas Dost in the 48^th minute. Surprisingly, Union Berlin had better ball possession then Frankfurt in the entire match. That ball possession brought nothing to Berlin, as Frankfurt scored their second goal in the 62^nd minute through their new attacker Andre Silva, who is on loan from AC Milan.  

The hosts pulled back after the goal, focusing on the defense until the end.  Anthony Ujah came off the bench for Union Berlin and pulled one goal back in the 86^th minute, making the last 15 minutes a really tough job for the hosts. Berlin players made one final push in the stoppage time, but Frankfurt held off their attacks and left Berlin with 3 points. With this win, Frankfurt climbed to 7^th place on the table, while Union Berlin is now 14^th.

Christian Pulisic scored and made an assist for the first time in more than a month as high flying Borussia Dortmund won the last minute penalty to eliminate the second tier Union Berlin 3-2 in the German Cup on Wednesday and advance to the third round.

USMNT American Pulisic fired the first goal of the game in the 40^th minute. The Berliners fired back thanks to a 63rd-minute goal from Sebastian Polter. Maximillian Phillipp scored Dortmund’s second goal to give the team hopes of winning in regular team. Berlin equalized in the 88^th minute to force the game into extra time.

Pulisic’s goal came after Berlin’s keeper Rafal Gikiewicz saved Shinji Kagawa’s header.  The 20-year-old American also made the assist in Philipp’s 73rd-minute goal. In extra time, Pulisic was fouled in the 120^th minute, winning Dortmund a game-winning penalty easily converted by Marcus Reus.

Dortmund struggled throughout the game, especially after defender Abdou Diallo was escorted out of the pitch after 13 minutes with a foot injury.  Berlin were splendid throughout the night, hitting the crossbar close to halftime and missing several other chances.

Pulisic has made four started this season as he struggles to recover from injuries. After Wednesday’s display, he will most likely play fellow American John Brooks on Saturday when Dortmund travels to Wolfsburg.
