]]>In one of the most hyped fights in the history of UFC, Russia’s Khabib Nurmagomedov defeated Ireland’s Conor McGregor through submission at UFC 229 brawl in Las Vegas.
The Russian controlled every part of the brawl. In the fourth round, McGregor began to wear out. Khabib forced a rear naked choke on the Irish man 3 minutes into the fourth round, bringing an end to McGregor’s dominance in the UFC lightweight division and extending the Russian’s record to 27 wins and 0 defeats.
While the fight was as entertaining as the two fighters had promised months before Sunday, it was what happened after the brawl that got everyone’s attention. Immediately after being announced the winner, Nurmagomedov sparked another brawl by sprinting towards McGregor’s corner to start another fight.
The undefeated champion hurled his mouth-guard towards McGregor’s teammates, particularly Dillon Danis. Chaos ensued immediately and securities had to be called to bring an end to the ugly scenes.
According to the Russian’s manager, Javier Mendez, Danis insulted Nurmagomedov provoking him to react the way he did.
“Dillon set him off, I guess,” Mendez told reporters.
UFC President Dana White later confirmed that three of the Russian’s teammates had been detained by the Nevada police despite McGregor’s choice not to press any charges. In fact, the Irishman was quick to accept defeat. He also announced he would be interested in a rematch.
“Good Knock. Looking forward to the rematch,” @TheNotoriousMMA (McGregor) tweeted.
