Kansas City Chiefs’ wideout Tyreek Hill might use his astonishing speed to compete in another sport besides football. Hill recently said that he would like to compete at the Olympic Games one day as a track and field athlete.

Back when he was in high school, Hill ran 100m in 9.98secs and competed in track and field competitions before deciding to focus on football. After he already established himself as one of the best WRs in the game, the 25-year-old speedster would now like to prove himself in another sport.

“Hopefully after the season, if I’m healthy and my mind is still in the right place, I really want to try and like try to qualify for some Olympic teams,” said Hill in a recent chat with reporters.

Although he didn’t run 40-yard dash at the combine, Hill is widely regarded as the fastest player in the league at the moment.

“Maybe get a few guys off the team and see if we can put a relay together, and show these track guys that football guys, we used to do this back in high school, man, we still got it, you know?,” he added.

Hill wouldn’t be the first NFL player to take part in the Olympics. Former Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Jeff Demps participated at London Olympics in 2012 as a member of the United States’ 4x100m relay team while former Detroit Lions RB Jahvid Best ran 100m at the 2016 Olympics.

Before taking a shot at Olympic Gold, Tyreek Hill will first look to add a Super Bowl ring to the list of his achievements. Hill and Chiefs will play in the Super Bowl LIV against San Francisco 49ers on Sunday.

Hill finished the 2019 NFL regular season with 860 and seven touchdowns, despite only playing 12 games. He was also selected to his fourth consecutive Pro Bowl.

Despite his off-the-field issues, Kansas City Chiefs are sticking with Pro Bowl wideout Tyreek Hill. The team announced on Friday that Hill signed a three-year extension, which will keep him with the organization through 2022.

According to NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport, Hill’s deal is worth $54 million and comes with $35.5 million in guaranteed money. The 25-year-old will also get $5.8 million signing bonus.

Hill, who had one year left on his rookie contract, earned his extension with a career season in 2018 in which he had 87 receptions for 1,479 yards and 12 touchdowns.

Chiefs confirmed the deal on their social media by posting a photo of Hill inking the contract.

“We’re pleased we were able to reach an agreement with Tyreek to keep him in a Chiefs uniform for the foreseeable future,” Chiefs general manager Brett Veach said in a statement. “He understands our expectations of him as a member of this team and community. Tyreek is an elite player in this league and has played a major role in our team’s success, and we’re pleased that he’ll continue to make an impact for us.”

Coming out of college, Tyreek Hill was projected to be undrafted in the 2016 NFL Draft, as he had several off-the-field issues that usually scared teams off. Kansas City Chiefs, however, decided to roll the dice on him and take him in the fifth round.

Hill repaid the faith Chiefs had in him in his rookie season when he had 1,836 all-purpose yards. He was named into PFWA All-Rookie Team while also earning Pro Bowl selection, and First-Team All-Pro honors as a return specialist. His sophomore season was also a success as he earned another Pro Bowl appearance and had 1,183 receiving yards and seven TDs.

“I’m grateful for the opportunity to continue my playing career here in Kansas City,” – said Hill after signing the deal. “Kansas City is my home, and I appreciate the love and support from Clark Hunt, Coach Reid and Brett Veach along with my coaches and teammates. To Chiefs Kingdom, you’re the best fans in the world.”
