The San Francisco 49ers left tackle Trent Williams is expected to be activated in time to play against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday. Listed as questionable, Williams returned to practice on Thursday and Friday on a limited basis.

Williams suffered a right ankle sprain during the Week 6 19-17 loss to the Cleveland Browns. Although 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan confirmed that the player is not dealing with a high ankle sprain, the injury cannot be considered a low sprain due to the left tackle’s history of injuries to the right ankle.

Jaylon Moore, who played during the last two games in Williams’ stead, is expected to start should the injured left tackle not recover sufficiently in time to play against the Jaguars.

The San Francisco 49ers’ left tackle Trent Williams just became the latest addition to Madden NFL’s exclusive 99 Club. The club recognizes the players who received the 99 overall grade (highest possible) in Madden NFL video game series, with Williams set to receive the honor in Madden NFL 23.

Williams also becomes the first offensive lineman in the history of the game to have a 99 overall rating. In the past decade, six OLs were rated with 98 grades, including Williams, Zack Martin (Dallas Cowboys), and Marshal Yanda (Baltimore Ravens).

EA Sports, the video gaming company that publishes Madden NFL, broke the news to Williams earlier this week. One of the company’s representatives visited Williams and presented him with a gift box to celebrate the occasion. The whole thing was recorded by veteran running back Adrian Peterson and posted on social media.

Trent Williams was honored with the 99 rating after a strong 2021 campaign that saw him receive his ninth Pro Bow nod and First-team All-Pro honors for the first time in his career. The Madden NFL 23 is expected to have a handful of other players with 99 grades, including quarterback Patrick Mahomes (Kansas City Chiefs), defensive tackle Aaron Donald (Los Angeles Rams), and linebacker TJ Watt (Pittsburgh Steelers).

Pro Bowl left tackle Trent Williams has decided to stay with the San Francisco 49ers and made NFL history in the process.

Williams’ agency Elite Loyalty Sports announced on Wednesday that their client agreed to a six-year deal with the 49ers. The contract is worth $138 million, making the 32-year-old veteran the highest-paid offensive lineman ever.

The agreement comes with $55.1 million in guarantees and a $30.1 million signing bonus for Williams.

Trent Williams spent the first 10 years of his career with the Washington Football Team, where he played 120 games and made seven Pro Bowls. Following the 2018 NFL season, Williams asked Washington to trade him following a dispute with the team’s medical staff.

After initially refusing to trade him, Washington sent Williams to the 49ers in exchange for a third-round pick ahead of the 2020 season. In San Francisco, Williams made a triumphant comeback, starting 14 games and earning another Pro Bowl nod.

Williams was widely considered the best free agent on the market this offseason and reportedly had discussions with multiple teams early in free agency. The Kansas City Chiefs and Chicago Bears made a strong run to sign him but eventually focused on other targets after the lack of progression in talks.

The 49ers, on the other hand, made Williams their priority in the offseason and wanted to keep him at all costs. After achieving this, the organization is now expected to turn to their other free agents like corner K’Waun Williams.

Pro Bowl guard Trent Williams signed a restructured deal with San Francisco 49ers over the weekend. According to reports, the deal ensures that Williams receives half of his $12.5 million salary for 2020 in advance while also guaranteeing it.

Williams joined the 49ers from Washington Redskins in an offseason trade. The 31-year-old guard came with one year left on his contract that had no guaranteed money left. The restructure takes care of this problem while setting a good note for the two sides ahead of impending negotiations about a long-term deal.

Williams himself confirmed the news on his social media.

Trent Williams missed the entire 2019 season after he publicly demanded a trade from the Redskins. Williams said at the time that the team’s medical staff misdiagnosed a growth on his head, which turned out to be a tumor, and that he couldn’t trust the organization anymore.

Redskins refused to trade Williams last year but caved in after key changes in the front office and coaching staff. They ended up making a deal with San Francisco, receiving a 2021 third-rounder and a 2020 fifth-rounder in exchange.

Williams, who was the fourth overall pick in 2010, played 120 games with Washington since entering the league. He made the Pro Bowl seven times while also receiving Second-Team All-Pro honors in 2015.
