It looks like Philadelphia Flyers will keep all of their key free agents with the organization this offseason. After previously agreeing to deals with Ivan Provorov and Travis Sanheim, Flyers now announced that they also got forward Travis Konecny to sign a long-term deal.

According to the team, Konecny inked a six-year deal that will pay him $5.5 million annually. This new contract, worth $33 million overall, will keep the 22-year-old Canadian with the franchise through the 2024-25 season.

“I’m really excited about signing with the Flyers and being able to call Philadelphia home for the next six years,” – said Konecny after inking the deal. “I can’t wait to get back with my teammates and to start a new relationship with the coaching staff. It’s on me now to work hard and make up for the couple days I wasn’t able to be here.”

Konecny is coming off a strong 2018/19 NHL season in which he played all 82 games for the first time in his career, contributing with 24 goals and 25 assists.

“We are happy to have Travis under contract for the next six seasons,” – said Flyers’ general manager Chuck Fletcher. “Travis has shown progression in each of his three seasons and is an integral part of our group of young forwards. His speed, skill and tenacity sets him apart in today’s NHL.”

Flyers took Travis Konecny 24th overall in 2015 NHL Entry Draft. He made his NHL debut for Philly in the following season and immediately made his contribution with 28 points in 70 games.  Konecny followed that up with a breakthrough sophomore year in which he had 47 points, having played almost the entire season.

Konecny is also part of Canada’s national team and was part of the silver medal-winning team on 2017’s World Cup.
