The Atlanta Hawks point guard Trae Young will be an All-Star this season, after all. Young was given an All-Star nod by NBA commissioner Adam Silver, who selected him and Toronto Raptors’ Scottie Barnes as injury replacements.

Young and Barnes will step in for Philadelphia’s Joel Embiid and New York’s Julius Randle, who can’t make it due to injuries. Embiid recently underwent a meniscus surgery that will keep him out for at least four weeks while Randle is dealing with a shoulder injury.

The 2024 All-Star game is scheduled for February 18 and will take place in Indianapolis at Gainbridge Fieldhouse, the home of the Indiana Pacers.

Young was overlooked for the All-Star starters, voted by fans, current NBA players, and a media panel, and also missed out on making it as one of the reserves, which are selected by NBA head coaches. His initial omission raised some eyebrows, considering his individual numbers. The 25-year-old player is currently averaging 27.3 points and 10.9 assists.

Barnes, on the other hand, will get his first All-Star appearance thanks to Silver. The former NBA rookie of the year is having his best year as a pro, averaging career-highs in points (20.2), rebounds (8.1), and assists (5.8). He is also shooting a career-best 36.5% from behind the three-point line.

Trae Young suffered a concussion during the Atlanta Hawks’ 116-95 defeat to the Cleveland Cavaliers on Saturday, it was later confirmed. There is currently no timeline detailing his possible return date.

Young left the Cavs’ game with 8:43 remaining in the fourth quarter after he took a hit to the face when charged by the Cavaliers’ Isaac Okoro, with Okoro’s elbow making contact with Young’s face. Although the Hawks’ guard was able to remain on the court for a few minutes, he ultimately departed, leaving for the locker room and not returning to the court of play.

Prior to his departure, Young scored 15 points. He is averaging 26.9 points per game this season and ranks second in the NBA with 10.8 assists per game. The Hawks will be hoping for Young’s prompt return as they attempt to keep their challenge for a playoff spot alive.

Not having their starting point guard Kyle Lowry on the floor didn’t stop the Miami Heat to continue dominating the Atlanta Hawks in their first-round series of 2022 NBA Playoffs. Instead, the Heat cruised to a 110-86 win in Game 4 while holding Atlanta’s All-Star guard Trae Young to just eight points.

The Heat benefited from another world-class performance by Jimmy Butler, who had 36 points, 10 rebounds, four assists, and four steals on the night. The four remaining Miami starters were all in double digits as well.

The Hawks, on the other hand, failed to replicate their performance from Game 3 and once again felt overwhelmed by Miami’s standout defense. This was especially the case with Young, who continued having trouble impacting this series. The 23-year-old Oklahoma product finished the night with three field goals out of 11 attempts and five turnovers.

De’AndreHunter ended up being Atlanta’s most prolific player, scoring 24 points. John Collins added 11, while the only other Hawks player in double digits was bench warmer Kevin Knox. Knox scored his 12 points in garbage time.

The two teams meet again on Tuesday at the FTX Arena when the Miami Heat will have a chance to close out the series.

The National Basketball Association, currently in a game stoppage due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic that has ravaged the sports world and society as a whole, is looking to put together an event that will bring together some of the game’s biggest stars.

H-O-R-S-E, a traditional playground game, is set to be the competition that various basketball stars will take part in. The event is set to be broadcast on television and done live, with players using their homes as the setting for the contest.

Three names, Hawks guard Trae Young, Wolves guard Zach LaVine, and Thunder guard Chris Paul, have been confirmed as players that will take part in the event.

H-O-R-S-E consists of a competition in which players take a shot from somewhere on the court, often with astounding levels of difficulty. If they make the shot, the rest of the players must attempt to make the same basket. If they are unsuccessful, they receive one of the five letters of the word “horse.”

After spelling out the entire word, amounting to five missed shots, the player is eliminated.

Details for the broadcast and format of the competition, including the number of players that will participate, are set to be announced later this week.

Atlanta Hawks encouraging the start of the season hit a major roadblock on Tuesday night when their sophomore point guard Trae Young suffered an injury in the loss against Miami Heat.

Young was driving to the basketball in the second quarter of the Heat game when he got tangled up with Justise Winslow. After landing awkwardly on the floor, the 21-year-old rolled his ankle and fell to the ground. He got up and limped to the locker room with a hurting expression on his face, before being ruled out for the remainder of the game.

“It was painful,” – said Young after the game. “Knock on wood, I haven’t had too many injuries. I’ve been blessed not to have too many injuries throughout my whole entire life, so that was definitely a tough pain.”

Luckily for the Hawks, however, it seems like Trae Young won’t face a lengthy break. ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported on Wednesday that the player’s X-ray test came back clean and that the injury was characterized as a sprain. This means that Young might miss only a couple of games, before returning to court at some point next week.

Young entered the 2019/20 NBA season in great form and was averaging 34 points and nine assists in the first three games. He also shot a 52 percent behind the three-point line.

After 36 and 49 points efforts in his two previous games, Atlanta Hawks’ point guard Trae Young looked like he will have another big performance against the Chicago Bulls on Sunday night. Unfortunately for Young, however, that didn’t happen as he was ejected from the game in the third quarter for taunting Bull’s guard Kris Dunn.

Trae Young and Kris Dunn got into a verbal and physical exchange in the first quarter after some contact on the previous play and were handed technical fouls. Then midway through the third quarter, Young hit a three over Dunn to make it 78-62 for the Hawks and stared down at him. Referee Mark Ayotte swiftly reacted, calling the Hawks’ PG for taunting and ejecting him from the game, causing surprise on both sides.

“They made a call, I live with it.” – said Young who had 18 points and five assists before the ejection. “I looked at someone, and that was about it.”

After the game, Dunn offered his opinion on the matter, saying that he doesn’t think Young should have been ejected.

“I don’t really know what happened, to be honest,” – he told BullsTV. “I just know that he got ejected, and I felt that he shouldn’t have got ejected.”

Ayotte also commented on his decision, saying to a pool reporter that he thinks he made the right call.

“Taunting is directed at an opponent specifically,” – he said. “Celebration is not directed at an opponent.”

Atlanta Hawks managed to close out the game even without Trae Young, beating the Bulls 123-118 and improving their record to 22-42.

NBA recently published the results of its annual rookie survey. The league surveyed 36 rookies on multiple topics, and these first-year players had some interesting opinions. When asked who among them will have the best NBA career, the rookies opted for Wendell Carter Jr, who was selected seventh overall by Chicago Bulls in this year’s draft.

On the second place came New York Knicks’ Kevin Knox and Los Angeles Clippers’ Jerome Robinson, while five players shared the third place among themselves. The surprising thing was that the third overall pick, Dallas Mavericks’ Luka Doncic, failed to receive any votes at all.

2018 NBA rookie class also voted on their favorites for Rookie of the Year award. Phoenix Suns’ first overall pick DeAndre Ayton and Cleveland Cavaliers’ eighth overall pick Colin Sexton ended up receiving the most votes. Doncic managed to crack this list alongside Knox, with both players receiving enough votes for the second place.

Elsewhere in the survey, Minnesota Timberwolves’ Keita Bates-Diop, who was drafted 48th overall, was highlighted as the biggest steal in the 2018 draft while Philadelphia 76ers’ Zhaire Smith got the title of the most athletic rookie. Atlanta Hawks’ Trae Young was voted as the best shooter and best playmaker while Memphis Grizzlies’ Jevon Carter was marked as the best defender.

Finally, almost the third of the rookies had LeBron James as their favorite player.
