It is probably safe to say that not even the legendary quarterback Tom Brady himself knows when he’ll retire from the NFL. However, he already has his next job lined up whenever that happens.

On Tuesday, Fox Sports announced that Brady would join their team once he decided to step away from football. The seven-time Super Bowl champion is set to serve as the lead NFL analyst for the network.

“We are delighted that Tom has committed to joining the Fox team and wish him all the best during this upcoming season,” Fox CEO Lachlan Murdoch said announcing the news.

Explaining Brady’s role, Murdoch revealed that the 44-year-old player would call games in company with Kevin Burkhardt, the network’s leading play-by-play announcer. Brady will also work on promoting the Fox brand.

Tom Brady already stepped away from football once, retiring back in early February. However, less than two months into his retirement, Brady changed his mind and committed to playing at least one more season. It remains to be seen whether Brady decides to play past 2022.

Brady will join a long list of former star QBs who made the transition to broadcasting after retiring from football. This includes Troy Aikman, Tony Romo, Peyton and Eli Manning, and  Drew Brees.

The most accomplished quarterback in NFL history will make a dramatic return to the sport. After spending just over a month as a retired football player, Tom Brady announced a shocking decision to unretire and play in the 2022 NFL season.

Brady revealed his decision via social media, writing on Twitter that he’ll return for his 23rd season as a pro with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The 44-year-old spent the past two seasons as a member of the Buccaneers and led the franchise to a Super Bowl win in 2020.

“These past two months I’ve realized my place is still on the field and not in the stands,” Brady explained. “That time will come. But it’s not now.”

The reports about Tom Brady’s retirement surfaced shortly after the Buccaneers were eliminated in the Divisional Round of the 2021 NFL Playoffs. Brady went on to officially retire on February 1st, saying he wants to spend more time with his family and focus on other endeavors.

Despite the confirmation, however, many believed that Brady could still end up changing his mind as the 2022 season approaches. The rumors about his potential comeback were later intensified by the Bucs’ brass, who said there was a door open for Brady to return and that the franchise would take him back in a heartbeat.

It turned out that Tampa Bay’s general manager Jason Licht and head coach Bruce Arians remained in touch with Brady and were ready to act when the seven-time Super Bowl winner decided he wants to continue playing.

“Tom Brady loves to play football as much as anyone I have ever been around,” Arians said in a statement. “As Tom said, his place right now is on the football field.”

Brady had one of the most productive seasons in his career in 2021, throwing a career-high 5,316 passing yards alongside 43 passing touchdowns and 12 interceptions. Bucs’ finished the regular season with a 13-4 record.Β

It’s an end of an era. Legendary New England Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ quarterback Tom Brady decided to hang up his cleats and retire from the NFL.

Brady’s retirement was widely expected as several media outlets reported the news on Saturday. However, Brady waited with the official announcement until Tuesday morning, when he posted a lengthy statement on Twitter and the rest of his social media.

Announcing the retirement, Brady said he “loved his NFL career” but feels now is the time to “focus my time and energy on other things that require his attention. He also thanked his family, the NFL fans, his coaches, teammates, and everyone else who contributed to his career.

Addressing the future, Brady said he would continue working on the companies he co-founded, including TB12 Sports, but admitted he still doesn’t have everything planned out.

“I am going to take it day by day,” he added. “I know for sure I want to spend a lot of time giving to others and trying to enrich other people’s lives, just as so many have done for me.”

Brady spent his first 20 years in the NFL with the Patriots, transforming the franchise into a football powerhouse. As the team’s quarterback, Brady led New England to nine Super Bowl appearances and six Vince Lombardi trophies.

In 2020, Brady left the Pats and signed with the Buccaneers. He further cemented his status as the “G.O.A.T.” (greatest of all time) in Tampa Bay, helping the franchise to win a Super Bowl in his first year. However, he fell short of repeating in the 2021 NFL season, as the Bucs were eliminated in the divisional round by Super Bowl-bound LA Rams.

With seven Super Bowl rings, Tom Brady retires as the most accomplished player in NFL history. The next on the list, Hall of Fame linebacker Charles Haley, has five while no other quarterback managed to get more than four. Brady was also named the NFL MVP three times and had 15 Pro Bowl nods in 22 years of his NFL career. In addition, he holds numerous NFL records, including most career QB wins (243), most career passing yards (84,520), and most career passing touchdowns (624).

Tom Brady returned to Gillette Stadium on Sunday night and made history as he’s done so many times before. The veteran quarterback not only led this new team, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, to a 19-17 win over his former franchise, the New England Patriots, but also broke the NFL’s career passing yards record in the process.

Brady threw for 269 yards, which was more than enough for him to pass New Orleans Saints legend Drew Brees and claim the top of the NFL’s all-time list with 80,560 passing yards. He also became just the fourth QB in league history to beat all 32 teams alongside Brees, Brett Favre, and Peyton Manning.

“It was awesome,” Brady said after the game. “I tried not to predict what was going to happen and how I would feel. Had a few emotional moments this week just thinking about the people that have really meant so much to me in my life and that are a part of this community. Just very grateful for an amazing time here. Like I said, my football journey took me somewhere else, but I’m really enjoying that, and great to get a win.”

The Pats previously celebrated Brady’s contributions to the franchise, including six Super Bowls, treating him with a tribute video before the game started.

Brady didn’t manage to throw a single touchdown thanks to New England’s defense that played at a high level. But he did enough to set up five field goals for Ryan Succop, including the go-ahead one with 2:37 left on the clock.

The Pats had a chance to take it all inside the final minute of the contest, but Nick Folk ended up missing a 56-yarder.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers entered Sunday night’s game against New Orleans Saints with a mission to confirm their stature as Super Bowl contenders this season. Instead, they suffered an embarrassing 38-3 defeat at home that now stands as the worst loss in quarterback Tom Brady’s storied NFL career.

Saints’ offense got hot early on and they were up by 14 in the first quarter, courtesy of Drew Brees’ touchdown passes to Tre’Quan Smith and Adam Trautman. Bucs, on the other hand, punted the ball three times and failed to get a single first down.

The second quarter proved to be much worse for Tampa Bay. They failed to stop Brees and New Orleans’ high octane attack while Bucs’ offense continued to work against themselves.

This included two interceptions thrown by Brady, one of which the Saints turned into a touchdown.

The second half saw a bit less action considering the game was already out of Bucs’ reach with the Saints having a 31-0 lead.

After a scoreless third period, which saw Brady threw one more interception, New Orleans added to their total with Brees’ TD pass to Josh Hill early in the quarter. The Buccaneers, on the other hand, managed to save themselves from a shutout thanks to Ryan Succop’s 48-yard field goal towards the end of regulation.

This beatdown marked the biggest margin of loss for Tom Brady since he entered the league in 2000. His previous biggest defeat came in 2003 when his New England Patriots were shut out 31-0 by Buffalo Bills.

“We just didn’t play the way we are capable of playing,” said Brady after the game. “Everybody has to get back to work, and that starts with me.”

With this loss, Tampa Bay conceded the control of the NFC South to the Saints. Buccaneers are now second with a 6-3 record, while New Orleans sits at the top at 6-2.

We will get to see New England Patriots’ quarterback Tom Brady in the NFL in 2019 as well. Many analysts wondered whether Brady will consider retiring if he wins Super Bowl LIII, which would be his sixth, on Sunday and we got that answer sooner than expected.

In a recent interview with ESPN‘s Jeff Darlington, Tom Brady was asked if there’s any chance that Super Bowl LIII is his last game.

“Zero” – responded Brady and confirmed what he has been saying for the entire season.

“I’ve said that for a long time,” – he added. “I feel like I’m asked that a lot, and I feel like I repeat the same answer. But no one believes me.”

When Tom Brady, who is currently 41 years old, said early last year that he intends to play until 45, many people didn’t believe him since no one played so long on such a high level. But in seven days, Brady will have two Super Bowl appearances in his forties, and you have to wonder how far can he go.

This year wasn’t remarkable for him when you consider some of his performances in several past seasons, but Tom Brady has been still playing closely to All-Pro level. He completed 375 out of 570 passes for 4,355 yards, 29 touchdowns and 11 interceptions. Although there are some slight signs of decline, Brady is setting the new standards for longevity and the rest of the league continues to look closely.
