It’s an end of an era. Legendary New England Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ quarterback Tom Brady decided to hang up his cleats and retire from the NFL.

Brady’s retirement was widely expected as several media outlets reported the news on Saturday. However, Brady waited with the official announcement until Tuesday morning, when he posted a lengthy statement on Twitter and the rest of his social media.

Announcing the retirement, Brady said he “loved his NFL career” but feels now is the time to “focus my time and energy on other things that require his attention. He also thanked his family, the NFL fans, his coaches, teammates, and everyone else who contributed to his career.

Addressing the future, Brady said he would continue working on the companies he co-founded, including TB12 Sports, but admitted he still doesn’t have everything planned out.

“I am going to take it day by day,” he added. “I know for sure I want to spend a lot of time giving to others and trying to enrich other people’s lives, just as so many have done for me.”

Brady spent his first 20 years in the NFL with the Patriots, transforming the franchise into a football powerhouse. As the team’s quarterback, Brady led New England to nine Super Bowl appearances and six Vince Lombardi trophies.

In 2020, Brady left the Pats and signed with the Buccaneers. He further cemented his status as the “G.O.A.T.” (greatest of all time) in Tampa Bay, helping the franchise to win a Super Bowl in his first year. However, he fell short of repeating in the 2021 NFL season, as the Bucs were eliminated in the divisional round by Super Bowl-bound LA Rams.

With seven Super Bowl rings, Tom Brady retires as the most accomplished player in NFL history. The next on the list, Hall of Fame linebacker Charles Haley, has five while no other quarterback managed to get more than four. Brady was also named the NFL MVP three times and had 15 Pro Bowl nods in 22 years of his NFL career. In addition, he holds numerous NFL records, including most career QB wins (243), most career passing yards (84,520), and most career passing touchdowns (624).

Tom Brady returned to Gillette Stadium on Sunday night and made history as he’s done so many times before. The veteran quarterback not only led this new team, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, to a 19-17 win over his former franchise, the New England Patriots, but also broke the NFL’s career passing yards record in the process.

Brady threw for 269 yards, which was more than enough for him to pass New Orleans Saints legend Drew Brees and claim the top of the NFL’s all-time list with 80,560 passing yards. He also became just the fourth QB in league history to beat all 32 teams alongside Brees, Brett Favre, and Peyton Manning.

“It was awesome,” Brady said after the game. “I tried not to predict what was going to happen and how I would feel. Had a few emotional moments this week just thinking about the people that have really meant so much to me in my life and that are a part of this community. Just very grateful for an amazing time here. Like I said, my football journey took me somewhere else, but I’m really enjoying that, and great to get a win.”

The Pats previously celebrated Brady’s contributions to the franchise, including six Super Bowls, treating him with a tribute video before the game started.

Brady didn’t manage to throw a single touchdown thanks to New England’s defense that played at a high level. But he did enough to set up five field goals for Ryan Succop, including the go-ahead one with 2:37 left on the clock.

The Pats had a chance to take it all inside the final minute of the contest, but Nick Folk ended up missing a 56-yarder.

The list of teams interested in Tom Brady is getting bigger with each passing week and Tampa Bay Buccaneers is the latest suitor for the iconic quarterback. According to Tampa Bay Times, the Buccaneers are “going all in” on attempts to land Brady this offseason.

Brady is set to become a free agent for the first time in his famed career, and the chances of him leaving New England Patriots are getting bigger by day. If the 42-year-old reached the free agency, he won’t be lacking contract offers, and Tampa Bay is reportedly preparing an “aggressive” one.

While the scenario in which Tom Brady is Buccs signal-caller in 2020 sounds highly unlikely at first, the fit is definitely there. In Tampa, Brady would be paired with head coach Bruce Arians, who is highly regarded for his work with QBs. Also, Tampa has a quality defense and potent offensive weapons, especially wideout Mike Evans, giving Brady a lot to work with.

It remains to be seen whether Tampa Bay Buccaneers get a chance to present their offer to Brady, but it’s clear that the team is ready to move on from Jaemis Winston. While Winston is considered to be a talented QB, he also failed to show consistency during his time as a Buccs starter. The 26-year-old, who threw 33 touchdowns and 30 interceptions in 2019, is set to become a free agent.

The other options that Tampa will consider for their QB position reportedly include Los Angeles Chargers’ Phillip Rivers and New Orleans Saints’ Teddy Bridgewater, who will be free agents as well.

Don’t expect New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady to make a retirement announcement anytime soon. Brady, who turned 42 in August, intends to play in NFL in 2020 as he still has “more to prove.”

Following the Pats’ wild-card loss against Tennessee Titans this past weekend, rumors surfaced that Brady could step away from football. However, the iconic QB shot down the speculations on Wednesday with a letter to fans posted on his Instagram page.

Brady thanked the fans for their support and said that the failure in the playoffs wouldn’t discourage him.

“In both life and football, failure is inevitable,” he added. “You don’t always win. You can, however, learn from that failure, pick yourself up with great enthusiasm, and place yourself in the arena again. And that’s right where you will find me. Because I know I still have more to prove.”

We now know that Tom Brady will remain in the NFL, but where he will play remains unknown. He still hasn’t signed a contract extension with Pats and is set to become a free agent in the offseason. While it may seem improbable to see Brady in another jersey just a year ago, now that seems like a legitimate possibility.

While there is no clear indication where Brady could end up if he leaves New England, teams like Chicago Bears and Los Angeles, who are considered to be a quality QB from contention, have emerged as possible destinations.

The Patriots’ franchise icon Tom Brady has, unsurprisingly, extended his current deal with New England for two more seasons according to multiple sources.

Brady, who turned 42 years old over the weekend, has gotten a new deal from the franchise and owner Robert Kraft that will pay him $70 million and keep him with the Pats through 2021.

In addition to the two years added onto his current deal, which would’ve expired at the end of this season, the new contract also includes an $8 million pay raise for the 2019 season. This will raise Brady’s salary to $23 million and make him the league’s sixth-highest paid quarterback.

Many have speculated that Brady could begin to think about retiring soon, but it appears that he’ll be with the team a team through at least his age 44 season. It’s no surprise that Brady would want to continue playing considering how well he has continued to play in recent seasons.

Brady continued to perform at an excellent level in the 2018 season, leading the Patriots to get another division championship. He threw for 4,355 yards and 29 touchdowns, giving away only 11 interceptions.

The reign of Tom Terrific continues, for now, in the kingdom of New England.

We will get to see New England Patriots’ quarterback Tom Brady in the NFL in 2019 as well. Many analysts wondered whether Brady will consider retiring if he wins Super Bowl LIII, which would be his sixth, on Sunday and we got that answer sooner than expected.

In a recent interview with ESPN‘s Jeff Darlington, Tom Brady was asked if there’s any chance that Super Bowl LIII is his last game.

“Zero” – responded Brady and confirmed what he has been saying for the entire season.

“I’ve said that for a long time,” – he added. “I feel like I’m asked that a lot, and I feel like I repeat the same answer. But no one believes me.”

When Tom Brady, who is currently 41 years old, said early last year that he intends to play until 45, many people didn’t believe him since no one played so long on such a high level. But in seven days, Brady will have two Super Bowl appearances in his forties, and you have to wonder how far can he go.

This year wasn’t remarkable for him when you consider some of his performances in several past seasons, but Tom Brady has been still playing closely to All-Pro level. He completed 375 out of 570 passes for 4,355 yards, 29 touchdowns and 11 interceptions. Although there are some slight signs of decline, Brady is setting the new standards for longevity and the rest of the league continues to look closely.

Although he is 41-years-old, New England Patriots’ quarterback Tom Brady doesn’t intend to retire from football anytime soon. During a recent interview with Westwood One, Brady confirmed his plans to play in 2019 and beyond.

“I absolutely believe I will. I know I’ve talked about it for a long time: I have goals to not only play next year, but beyond that,” – said Brady. “I’m going to try to do it as best I possibly can. I’m going to give it everything I have, like I always have.

Brady doesn’t only intend to keep on playing, but he hopes he will be able to do it on a high level.

“It will certainly be a challenge. I don’t take any of these things for granted, but I hope I can keep playing, and I hope I can keep playing at a championship level,” – he added.

Although Tom Brady is currently having a solid season, many analysts believe he is playing below level on which he played last year. In 15 games played this season, he completed 65.4 of his passes for 4,105 yards and 25 touchdowns while having 11 interceptions.

Brady, who spent his entire career with New England, recently earned his record 14th Pro Bowl selection, joining NFL legends Tony Gonzalez, Peyton Manning, Bruce Matthews and Merlin Olsen, who also had the same number of selections.

At age 40, New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady managed to take his team to Super Bowl appearance last season and become the oldest player in league’s history to win an MVP award. So it isn’t strange that despite his advanced years, Brady is still Patriots’ number one choice at the QB position and might be so in the coming years as well. But, soon to be 41-year-old knows he can’t play forever.

Speaking with Oprah Winfrey in an interview aired on Sunday, Tom Brady acknowledged he is thinking a lot more about retirement lately and that “there’s definitely an end coming.”

I think about it more now than I used to,” – Brady told Winfrey. “I think I’m seeing that there’s definitely an end coming, sooner rather than later.

Winfrey then asked Brady whether that time might be when he is 43 or even 45 years old.

As long as I’m still loving it.” – he responded. “As long as I’m loving the training and preparation and willing to make the commitment. But it’s also, I think, what I’ve alluded to a lot in the [“Tom vs. Time”] docuseries was there’s other things happening in my life, too. I do have [three] kids that I love, and I don’t want to be a dad that’s not there driving my kids to their games. I think my kids have brought a great perspective in my life, because kids just want the attention. You better be there and be available to them, or else they’re going to look back on their life and go, ‘Dad didn’t really care that much.’

If Tom Brady ends up playing until 45 and is still a starter for the Patriots, he will add another record to his collection; being the oldest starting quarterback in the history of NFL. The current record holder is Steve DeBerg, who was 44 years and 279 days old when he started for the Atlanta Falcons in a game against the New York Jets.

New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady decided to miss his team’s voluntary workouts this year, which immediately fueled already existing rumors about his bad relationship with head coach Bill Belichick. Well, according to Brady, that is not true since he “always had a great relationship” with Belichick and loves playing for him.

We’ve always had a great relationship,” – Brady told reporters after the team’s final practice of mandatory minicamp on Thursday. “I’ve been here for a long time and I love this team, I love this organization, and I love playing quarterback for him. I loved it last year. I’m having a lot of fun now, so that’s obviously what’s most important to me.

In previous years, Tom Brady participated regularly in the voluntary workouts and said they are an opportunity to strengthen the bond with his teammates. Asked what changed this year, the 40-year-old quarterback said he had “personal reasons” for his absence.

It’s obviously important for everybody. Our coaches do a great job getting us ready. Just some personal reasons for me,” – said Brady. “But I’m here now and focused on what I need to do, as I always say I am. I’m looking forward to this year.

Tom Brady is coming from a great individual season, which saw him winning the NFL Most Valuable Player award in his 18th seasons in the league, something no one managed to do before. He ended the 2017 regular season passing for 4,577 yards and had 32 touchdowns. Brady also played exceptionally well in the postseason, leading the Patriots to Super Bowl appearance where they were defeated by the Philadelphia Eagles.
