Tom Brady will get to sport the No.12 jersey with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after all. The Bucs announced on Tuesday that wide receiver Chris Godwin decided to let Brady take the No.12 while he’ll switch to No.14.

Godwin also made the news public by posting a photoshopped image of him and Brady wearing their new numbers.

When Tom Brady signed with the Bucs, it was unclear whether he’ll have a chance to wear the number that he had on his back for the past 20 years of his career. Luckily, Godwin, who has worn the No.12 since high school and was really passionate about it and was generous enough to offer it to him as a sign of good faith.

“Obviously if he doesn’t want it, or if he’s not making a big deal out of it, I’m definitely going to keep it. We’ll see how that goes,” Godwin told the reporters earlier this month. “I think just out of respect for what he’s done, what he’s accomplished, just kind of the career he’s built for himself, you have to lean into that respect.”

Brady obviously didn’t think too much about it and decided to accept the offer on the spot. The Bucs’ fans now can hope that it will bring him luck in Tampa Bay as it did in New England and that the most decorated QB in the history of NFL will do great things for them.
