Tampa Bay Buccaneers wideout Mike Evans thought he was doing a noble thing when he tossed the ball to a fan after scoring the first of his three touchdowns in a 38-3 win over Chicago Bears on Sunday. But this turned out to be a big mistake, as the ball he gave away was also the one with whom Tampa Bay quarterback Tom Brady scored his 600th career touchdown.

The Bucs staff was well aware of the milestone, so one team official headed to the stands to retrieve the ball. Luckily for Brady, the fan, later identified as Byron Kennedy, was willing to give up this prized possession for a handsome reward package.

According to multiple reports, Kennedy will get two signed jerseys and a helmet from Tom Brady, a signed jersey, and game-worn cleats from Mike Evans, pair of season tickets for the remainder of 2021 and the 2022 NFL season, and a $1,000 credit that he can use in the Bucs official team store. But that won’t be all.

While making an appearance on ESPN’s Monday Night Football simulcast hosted by Peyton Manning and Eli Manning, Brady also revealed that Kennedy would also get one Bitcoin from him. At the moment, one unit of this popular cryptocurrency is worth around $62K.

“Byron realized he lost all his leverage once he gave the ball away,” Brady jokingly said. “He should have held it to get as much leverage as possible.

It turns out that Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ wideout Chris Godwin wasn’t entirely on board with giving up his No.12 jersey to new quarterback Tom Brady. In a recent appearance on The Checkdown, Godwin admitted that the change “bothered him a little bit.”

Brady wore No.12 through his entire NFL career and has built his most of his off-the-field brand around it. So, when the 42-year-old quarterback arrived in Tampa Bay, it was expected that he’d want to keep the same number.

However, the issue was that Godwin, who is Bucs’ primary wide receiver, also had a strong bond with No.12. He wore it in high school, college, and NFL, while also making it part of his social media image.

In the end, Godwin agreed to defer to Brady, but it appears that it wasn’t an easy decision.

“I’ve been (wearing No. 12) since high school, and it means a lot to me,” said Godwin. “At first it bothered me a little bit; it was kind of getting at me because it’s part of my identity. But when the GOAT comes calling you kind of concede to him.”

Godwin ended up taking the No.14 jersey and is now hoping that getting on Brady’s good side will result in some Super Bowl wins.

“Hopefully I can get a ring or two or three out of that,” he added. “I was more than happy to do it. I have a new persona for me, 1-4. We’re going to move forward and make something special with it.”

Chris Godwin, who was the Bucs’ third-round pick in 2017, is coming off a productive season in which he had 86 receptions for 1,333 yards and nine touchdowns. Godwin made his first Pro Bowl in 2019 while also making the Second-team All-Pro.

If you still don’t believe that Tom Brady left New England Patriots for Tampa Bay Buccaneers, maybe a photo proof will finally convince you. The Bucs recently released promotional photos of Brady that show him in his new gear for the first time.

After spending the previous twenty years with the Pats, Brady decided to embark on a new challenge in the offseason and head to Tampa Bay. He inked a two-year, $50 million contract with the franchise in March.

Now, almost three months later, Brady made the last step in embracing his new franchise and suited up in the Bucs’ red, white, and pewter uniforms. Check out the promo photos below.

Brady also got to keep his No.12, which he rocked for his entire NFL career. This was thanks to wideout Chris Godwin, who gave this number to his new signal-caller and switched to No.14.

NFL fans will get to see Tom Brady in action in his Tampa Bay Buccaneers outfit for the first time on September 13th, when the Bucs visit New Orleans Saints in Week 1 of the 2020 NFL season. A week later, Brady will present himself is Bucs’ uniform to the home fans as well, when Carolina Panthers come to visit.
