Los Angeles Rams’ star running back Todd Gurley had an exceptional regular season in 2018 but ended up performing below expectations during the playoffs due to knee issues. This prompted the rumors that Rams’ might decide to manage Gurley’s workload more carefully in 2019 but according to team’s head coach Sean McVay, that won’t be the case.

McVay made an appearance on The Rich Eisen Show on Friday and said that he intends to have Gurley as the “focal point” of the team’s offense in the future.

“You can expect Todd to be a focal point of our offense going forward,” – said McVay. “He’s in a good place, he’s feeling good and will continue to be a central piece of our offense and I don’t see that changing.”

Todd Gurley played 14 games in 2018 and managed to rush 1,251 yards and league-high 17 touchdowns while also adding 59 receptions for 580 yards and four touchdowns. He ended up missing the final two games of the regular season due to knee inflammation.

Gurley returned in time for NFC Divisional Playoff game against Dallas Cowboys, and managed to rush for 115 yards and a touchdown in his team’s 30–22 win. In NFC Championship Game against New Orleans Saints, however, he struggled mightily and only managed to rush for 10 yards and a touchdown. His struggles continued in the Super Bowl loss to New England Patriots as he only had 35 rushing yards.
