Tiger Woods is looking to complete his remarkable comeback with an appearance in this year’s Masters Tournament at Augusta National. Woods hinted at this previously unlikely scenario while chatting with reporters on Tuesday.

Woods was involved in a nearly fatal crash in February 2021 that left him with a severe leg injury. His condition was so critical that doctors even considered amputation as an option. Luckily, the 46-year-old player managed to avoid this outcome but ended up undergoing several surgeries and spending three months in a hospital bed.

Many believed this would be the end of Woods’ golf career, but the 15-time major winner had other plans. Despite dealing with pain, he managed to get into competitive shape in recent months and now seems to be ready to play in his first PGA event in almost 17 months.

“As of right now, I feel like I am going to play, as of right now,” Woods said. “I’m going to play nine more holes [Wednesday]. My recovery has been good. I’ve been very excited about how I’ve recovered each and every day, and that’s been the challenge.”

And Woods isn’t just playing for the sake of it.

“I don’t show up to an event unless I think I can win it,” he added.

Tiger Woods won the Masters Tournament five times in his career. His most recent win came in 2019, which marked his first major championship since U.S. Open win in 2008. Woods finished tied 38th in the 2020 edition of the tournament.

Tiger Woods has decided to take things into his own hands. The golfer announced on Friday that he will continue with the comeback on his own, without his swing coach Chris Como.

Since my fusion surgery, I’ve been working hard to relearn my own body and golf swing.” – said Woods. “I’ve done this by primarily relying on my feel and the previous years of hard work with Chris Como. For now, I think it’s best for me to continue to do this on my own. I’m grateful to Chris Como for his past work, and I have nothing but respect for him.

Como wasn’t present at the Hero World Challenge tournament in the Bahamas, where Woods made his long-expected comeback. At the tournament, Woods shot three rounds in the 60s and ended up being tied for the ninth, 10 shots behind Rickie Fowler. Most importantly, Woods looked confident and strong enough to go see the tournament out.

Tiger Woods and Como began their collaboration in the summer of 2014. Como wasn’t as present in public as some of Woods’ other coaches, but the pair worked loot together in the past three years.

Tiger’s electrifying play at the Hero World Challenge was the by-product of a lot of hard work over the last few years while fighting through injury and pain,” – said Como in a statement. “As a result, there’s a lot of enthusiasm for 2018. When our professional relationship began, I was asked to help Tiger utilize his own instincts and feel while playing pain-free. I think we’ve accomplished that and I’m proud of the results. Tiger is ready to have an incredible next run in his career. I’m eager to watch what will be one of the most exciting sports comebacks of all time. I will continue to be a close friend and resource to him and am extremely excited about Tiger’s future, the golf industry and for the fans of golf.

It finally happened. Tiger Woods, one of the most successful golfers in the history of the sport, made his comeback to competitive golf. Woods competed on Thursday at the Hero World Challenge in the Bahamas, finishing Day 1 three-under 69. He ended up tied for eighth, three strokes behind current tournament leader Tommy Fleetwood.

It’s was not only nice to get that first round out of the way, but I’m only three shots out of the lead,” –said Woods.” For me, I thought I did great. I hadn’t played in awhile. After some of the difficulties I’ve been through, to come out here and score like I did, it was nice to be part of a scorecard again.

Although he might watch at the scoreboard, the final standings won’t play a big role for Woods. His main goal is to see how his body will react to the effort of playing golf and realize if he still got what it takes. If the Day 1 performance is any indicator, Tiger still has some fire in him.

Woods appearing at Hero World Challenge is a pleasant surprise, especially after he said in September 2017 that he might not return to golf at all. At the moment, Woods was recovering from his fourth back surgery since 2014 and didn’t participate in competitive golf since Farmers Insurance Open in January.

I don’t know what 100 percent means after eight surgeries, but I’ll try and get as close as I can to that number,” – said Woods at the time. “But as I said, we just take it one step at a time. It’s a process, and I’m in no hurry. As far as my health, I’m feeling great.

Then in October, Woods announced his golfing career still isn’t over and a revealed he will be a part of Hero World Challenge.

If golf just wasn’t enough interesting for you without Tiger Woods in the mix, then we have some great news. Tiger Woods announced on Monday that he will finally make a return to competitive golf, after being injured for better part of 2017. He will make an appearance on Hero World Challenge which is scheduled to take place from November 30 to December 3.

I am excited to return to competitive golf at the Hero World Challenge,” – Woods said in a statement. “Albany is the perfect setting and it will be great to join this outstanding field. I want to thank Pawan Munjal and Hero MotoCorp for their continued support of this tournament and my foundation. I would also like to thank the fans for their unwavering support during my injury.

This announcement comes just a month after Woods said he may not play golf again. Speaking ahead of the President Cup in September, Woods said he was focused on his health and unsure about the future.

Numerous injuries spoiled the career of Tiger Woods in the recent years. He had four back surgeries in the last three years and didn’t participate in a Major Championship in the last two years. After not participating in golf competition for 15 months, Woods returned in 2016 at the Hero World Challenge. He played in 2 more tournaments before having a back surgery in April. It was believed that Woods won’t play competitive golf in 2017, but it looks like his recovery is going better than expected.

Woods recently also had some legal issues. He was arrested back in May when a police officer found him sleeping in his car and being under influence of alcohol or drugs. In October, Woods pleaded guilty for the incident and received one-year probation. If he violates the probation, Woods will have to spend 90 days in jail.
