Miami Dolphins made one last attempt to sign free agent quarterback Teddy Bridgewater but didn’t manage to convince the 26-year-old to change teams. According to Yahoo Sports, Bridgewater snubbed Dolphins and will re-sing with the New Orleans Saints.

Bridgewater will ink a one-year, $7.25 million deal with the Saints, where he will serve as a backup for Drew Brees for a second year in a row. The overall value of the contract might go up to $12.5 million based on incentives.

Dolphins are not exactly happy with Ryan Tannehill’s health and plays in recent seasons, so they intended to sign Teddy Bridgewater and have a competition for a starting quarterback. Bridgewater, who was born in Miami, met with the team on Wednesday but ended up deciding to stick around with the Saints. He is hoping that he might be a successor to Brees once the 40-year-old veteran decides to retire.

Bridgewater started his NFL career with the Minnesota Vikings, who took him 32nd overall in 2014 draft. He played two impressive seasons with the Vikings and led them to playoffs in 2015, but ended up suffering a horrific leg injury in 2016 which sidelined him for almost two years.

Vikings decided not to re-sing Teddy Bridgewater after his contract expired in 2018 and he ended up signing with New York Jets. Bridgewater had a strong showing in the team’s preseason games, but ended up being on the trading block as Jets already intended to give the starting job to Sam Darnold, their third overall pick in 2017 NFL Draft.

Bridgewater ended up with Saints, who gave up a third round pick for him. He made his debut for New Orleans in Week 17, completing 14 out of 22 passes attempted for 118 yards, and a touchdown.

After two good preseason games, New York Jets’ quarterback Teddy Bridgewater is becoming attractive to other NFL teams. According to New York Daily News‘ Manish Mehta, at least two teams have called the Jets to ask about trade options for Bridgewater while there are several other teams who are thinking about making a move.

New York Jets signed Teddy Bridgewater in March, considering him a potential Week 1 starter for the 2018 season. But having veteran Josh McCown and drafting Sam Darnold third overall in NFL 2018 Draft, Jets started showing signs that they wouldn’t mind moving Bridgewater for the right offer.

The 25-year-old completed 17 out of 23 passes for 212 yards in the two preseason games while adding two touchdowns. This showing is particularly impressive considering the fact that he didn’t play serious football two years before that.

Reportedly, Denver Broncos are one of the interested parties. Broncos general manager John Elway recently hinted at the possibility of adding another QB as a reliable option for their starter Case Keenum. Other teams that are being mentioned as Teddy Bridgewater’s potential suitors are Miami Dolphins and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Teddy Bridgewater was drafted by the Minnesota Vikings in 2014 and immediately showed that he could be team’s quarterback of the future. He had an impressive rookie season, having won six games in 12 starts and being named Pepsi NFL Rookie of the Year. In his sophomore year, he led the Vikings to playoffs and earned himself a Pro-Bowl selection.

Bridgwaters’ NFL career had a significant setback in 2016 after he suffered a non-contact injury in his left leg, tearing his ACL. He missed two seasons of professional football, and Vikings opted against renewing his contract in 2018.

In 28 NFL career starts, Teddy Bridgewater has 64.7 completion percentage with 6,150 passing yards and 28 touchdowns.

New York Jets’ quarterback Teddy Bridgewater now finally healthy and is feeling great about his chances to compete in 2018 season. After suffering torn ACL in his knee in 2016, the injury that kept him almost two years from professional football, Bridgewater is finally ready to officially announce his full recovery.

Speaking with reporters on Monday, the 25-year-old said that the chance to play football again is “a wonderful feeling.”

Right now, I’m doing everything I dreamed of doing — and that’s waking up and continuing to play football,” – Bridgewater said. “It’s a wonderful feeling. It gives me chills right now to think about it, knowing how the previous two years were.

Asked whether he thinks his knee will manage to keep with the pressure of competing for a starting job, Bridgewater responded with confidence.

I definitely feel like I’m good,” – he said. “With the training staff here, we’ve been definitely hitting it hard.”

So far, the career of Teddy Bridgewater didn’t go down as planned. After being drafted in the first round by Minnesota Vikings and winning the NFL Rookie of the Year award in 2014, Bridgewater was poised to be franchise’s quarterback of the future. Four years and one horrifying knee injury later, he finds himself with the New York Jets trying to resurrect his career.

Bridgewater signed a one-year deal with the Jets in March 2018 and is expected to fight for the starting job in the training camp. This won’t be such an easy task, considering the fact that Jets’ traded up in the 2018 NFL Draft to take USC’s QB Sam Darnold with the third overall pick. The only question now is whether the organization decides to patiently develop Darnold and give Bridgewater a chance to prove himself or gamble on the rookie from the start.

Minnesota Vikings quarterback Teddy Bridgewater said he believes he will be able to play in the 2017 NFL season at some point. He was present at the practice field on Wednesday. Bridgewater suffered a non-contact injury to his left leg during practice in August 2016 and hasn’t played football since. The Vikings now plan to slowly introduce Bridgewater to practice, before allowing him to participate in 11-on-11 work.

Vikings’ coach Mike Zimmer said on Wednesday that team wants to take a cautious approach with Bridgewater’s return. He also added that he needs to see Bridgewater’s mobility and check how is he able to deal with the defenders.

Bridgewater himself acknowledged that there is a still long way ahead, but is happy being part of the practice and considers it a “mini-milestone”.

I used it as motivation,” – Bridgewater said. “I use that to tell myself, ‘Hey, I’m one step closer.’ Being out there, running out of that tunnel yesterday just did something to me, in a good way.

Teddy Bridgewater played college football at the University of Louisville and received numerous honors including the Big East Rookie of the Year and being named All-American. During his college career, Bridgewater had 781 completed passes for 9,817 yards and 72 touchdowns alongside 170 rushing yards and 6 rushing touchdowns. Following his junior year, he declared for 2014 NFL Draft where he was viewed as one of the top prospects and even potential first overall pick at one point. Bridgewater ended up being selected by the Vikings with the 32nd overall pick.

After starting his rookie season as a back-up for Matt Cassel, Bridgewater earned his start following Cassel’s injury. He went on to start 12 games for the Vikings and won 2014 Pepsi Rookie of the Year award. In 2015, Bridgewater continued with great performances and earned his first Pro Bowl appearance. So far, he played 29 NFL games in which he had 551 completed passes for 6,150 and 28 touchdowns.
